Sue is a health star!

Monday, 3 July 2017

Sue has worked at St Martha’s for over 18 years, and was recently nominated for the GMB Care Award for the excellent care that she delivers to residents and their families: someone who feels their happiness and their pain.  She is also known as ‘mother’ to many of the staff for the way she supports them.

The Awards ceremony was held on Friday 16th June at the GMB offices in Birmingham. To everyone’s delight (but not total surprise!), Sue won the award out of all the care staff in the West Midlands. She was awarded with a trophy and also a hotel stay for two days for two people, spa treatment and a champagne tea for two!

In his speech at the Awards ceremony, St Martha’s Home Manager Ben Barkat thanked GMB for organising such a vital award ceremony to appreciate all care staff.  Ben added that care is all about empathy and sympathy - thinking and feeling what it would be like in the resident’s place and how you would like to be treated.

As an added bonus, St Martha’s received a cheque for £500 pounds from GMB for their residents’ activities fund.

Well done Sue. Ben and all the team at St Martha’s!
