Silver Star Award!

Andrea is a Carer at Wordsworth house and was nominated by Clinical Lead Nurse, David Hawkes after she showed outstanding commitment and compassion to delivering care to a resident in the last days of life. The care that she offered to the resident and her family exceeded the expectations of nursing staff and relatives. Andrea showed a willingness to learn as the residents condition changed and she adapted practical care in the best interests of the resident. Her documentation, using the new Newcastle Last days of Life care plan was excellent and that she administered care that would be seen beyond hospice level. As an experienced Clinical Lead Nurse, I recognised her care, commitment, courage, compassion, competence and communication first hand and witnessed care that I would expect to be given to my own family members.
