The 2016 North East Regional Care Awards were held at the Marriott Gosforth Park, Newcastle, and there was one table in particular that was really buzzing, with plenty of whooping and hollering!
That was the Akari table, and they had every right to celebrate – in their own inimitable style! – because during the evening they picked up not one, not two, but three awards!
Elaine Kirtley won the Dementia Carer of the year and Julie Ati won Care Home Activities Co-ordinator of the year.
Akari also won the Regional Team award (Louise Spoors), including Karleen Taylor-Williams, Karen Taylor Williams, Jane Mack, Kevin Mulvey, Lisa Stephenson, Heather Knowles-Sinclair, and Ann Mielnick.
The Akari winners now go forward to the national awards in Birmingham in March 2017.
