Emily is 100 years young!

Monday, 30 October 2017

On Saturday 28 October 1917, Emily Thompson was born.  And 100 years later she’s still going strong here at Piper Court!

During the Second World War Emily worked in a munitions factory.  After the war she became a Home Carer.  She married and had a son, who moved to Australia, where he raised a family.  Sadly her son passed away last year.  Emily has no family living in this country.

Emily is a real character - she still tells Piper Court Carers how to do the job properly.  If she could get away with it, we think she would be a Carer herself!

We arranged a party for Emily, which the Stockton Mayor kindly attended.  And, of course, a card arrived from the Queen!
