Ayresome Court has a new take on tablets!!

There are more tablets being given out at Ayresome Court Nursing Home these days, but that’s not because the residents have more aches and pains than usual.  In fact, quite the opposite, because the tablets in question are iPads!

This is part of a new scheme to help residents to keep their minds active, and have a bit of digital fun!

There are games such as Matching Pairs, memory games, musical games, as well as quizzes and crosswords.

Ayresome Activities Co-ordinator Sarah Van Der Merwe is delighted that the iPads are a big hit.  ‘Some of the residents who I thought wouldn’t be interested are using the iPads and really enjoying them.  And one of the unexpected benefits has been a reduction in the risk of residents falling, as they are concentrating on the game or app instead of getting up!’

So far there are three iPads at Ayresome, but the hope is that there’ll soon be more.
