Choosing a Care Home is a task that few of us look forward to. In fact it’s something that most of us hope we’ll never have to do. After all, it marks a milestone in our lives – a time when we, or loved ones, are no longer capable of living independently. It can be a traumatic time for everyone concerned.
At Akari we try to make the experience of moving into a Home as positive as possible by looking at it as a new phase of life, free from those daily, mundane chores of domestic life. Our focus is on enriching the individuals’ lives, and we do that by offering a wide range of experiences, such as creative activities, games, coffee mornings, park visits – the list goes on! Most of our Homes have hair salons, some have tuckshops, cinemas and even a free bar!
Above all, we try to listen to our residents and their families, and to use their feedback to create an environment in which residents will be happy, enriched and fulfilled.
Being in a Home where you are loved
The thread running through all of this is that we care passionately about the welfare and wellbeing of our residents. Our work is so much more than just administering medication, serving meals and cleaning rooms. We strive to build genuinely close and caring relationships with the people we are privileged to support, as well as their families. In short, we want our residents to feel, not just looked after, but loved.
We know how important it is to choose the right home. That’s why we’ve developed a guide to help you.
