Akari Care is a family of Residential Care Homes spread across the UK, with the largest concentration of homes in the north-east. We choose the word ‘family’ with good reason, because in many ways it epitomises our values. Each Care Home we view as an extended family, bringing together residents and their families, our colleagues in care, clinicians, hairdressers, commissioners and CQC regulators, members of the local community – the list goes on. In this way, we are able to create a warm and inclusive environment in which our residents can feel a real sense of security and belonging, while at the same time retaining their dignity and self respect.
We never compromise on the quality of our services, nor would you expect us to. Our extended team includes trusted GPs, Dentists, Chiropodists and Dieticians, who all work hard to improve our residents’ quality of life. Our dementia Care Homes have qualified, dedicated staff who help people to maintain their identity and dignity.
People are often quite surprised when they hear about some of the activities and facilities in our homes – things like hairdressing salons, bars, mini cinemas, gardening, and cooking courses. Go to the Care Homes section and you’ll see for yourself. You’ll also get a flavour of the type of Care Homes there are in the Akari family, and how they all reflect our core values.
We have 35 Care Services throughout the UK
Akari Care has over 2,220 staff members across the business
We have over 1,700 beds across our homes.
When people ask us about our values, we often use the word ‘passionate’. We don’t use it glibly: we don’t trot it out because it sounds good. We use it because it underpins everything we do in our everyday working lives. When people choose an Akari Home, they are placing a great deal of trust in us, at a time when they are often under great stress. We’re passionate about returning that trust by providing a service that enables our residents to live enriched and happy lives.
All Akari Care Homes provide residents with opportunities to take up indoor and outdoor activities that stimulate them physically and mentally, while at the same time allowing them to maintain their individuality and independence.
We try our best to recruit people who can share our passion. We like to employ ‘people people’ – good communicators who can encourage and stimulate our residents, be good listeners, empathise with them, be a shoulder to cry on, have a laugh with them. We don’t hide the fact that the work can be physically and emotionally demanding, but it’s also extremely fulfilling and rewarding.
We know how important it is to choose the right Care Home, and we want to help you make that decision, regardless of whether you choose an Akari Care Home. Go to the Handy Guide section to find out more.
